Good Practices for Giving Titles to HTML Pages.

       1.  Accurately describe the contents of the page.  The title of the page, should, by itself communicate the contents of the page.  This not only   boosts the quality of the search results, but also gives the impression that your site is more reliable.

      2.  Avoid the practice of choosing a title that has no relation whatsoever with the contents of the page.  This may boost up page ranking but lowers the credibility of your webpage.  Also, avoid the default titles like “Untitled” or “New Page 1”.

      3.  Creating unique tags for each page is a must!  This helps the search engine to know that each page is different.  This greatly influences page rankings.

      4.  Avoid using a single tag across all the pages of your website.  Also, avoid the same over a large group of pages.

      5.  The titles should be brief and descriptive.  Titles can be short and informative.  The issue with long titles is that most search engines tend to display only a portion of the titles

      6.  Avoid, as stated earlier, extremely lengthy titles that are unhelpful to the users.

      7.  Avoid stuffing unwanted keywords in your title tags.
